The Director General's Foreword

Assalamualaikum wrt wbt and greetings.
Welcome and thank you for browsing the official website of National Solid Waste Management Department (NSWMD).
Solid waste management and public cleaning services are one of the municipal services implemented in Malaysia. The generation of solid waste in Malaysia is increasing every year it is in line with the increase in population, the rapid development of the country’s economy and also the factors of urbanization. Solid waste management is based on the solid waste management hierarchy which gives priority to waste reduction through 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), intermediate treatment and final disposal. In this regard, solid waste management services in Malaysia need to be seen holistically and comprehensively in order to create an integrated solid waste management system, using cost -effective technology, emphasizing the preservation and sustainability of the environment while ensuring public health.
The NSWMD was established in 2007 in accordance with the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act (Act 672) which was gazetted on 30 August 2007. The establishment of NSWMD aims to integrate solid waste management at the national level and ensure efficient solid waste management and public cleansing, effective and sustainable.
The NSWMD portal has been developed to share information that can be used by all customers and stakeholders of this department. Customer-friendly access is also provided so that the NSWMD portal can be used easily. Hopefully, this portal can beneficial to all.
Thank you.
